TSF and ECHO – Reconnecting Vanuatu

As the Category 5 Tropical Cyclone Pam approaches the islands of Vanuatu, TSF, supported by European Commission - Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection (ECHO),  has deployed emergency response teams from its International Headquarters in Europe and its Regional Base for Asia/Pacific (ROAP) to preposition in Brisbane, Australia, ready to intervene in the direct aftermath of the disaster.

Following the forecast of Super Typhoon Hagupit, TSF deployed a pre-positioned team which arrived on Sunday 7th December to the capital of the Philippines, Manila from its ROAP (Regional Office for Asia/Pacific) and Headquarters in Europe.

During the weekend of 20th – 21st September, over 30 towns in the north of Kurdish Syria were seized by ISIS in a violent and mortal attack. These combats lead to the displacement of over 130,000 Kurds across the border into Turkey. Télécoms Sans Frontières deployed both a team from its headquarters as well as its Syrian logistics coordinators to the border and its surrounding areas.
